Spoken Language

The  English curriculum reflects the importance of spoken language in pupils’ development across the whole curriculum. Children at Cheriton have many opportunities to become confident speakers – and listeners. Drama techniques are often used in literacy lessons – to retell the story or to develop empathy with characters.

Role play is very important in FS and Year 1 as it enables children to explore language connected to class topics.
