Forest School
Within our school grounds we have a special area dedicated to learning about the natural environment. This area was planned and planted some years ago with a pond dug. As it has evolved and developed over time the area now has established mature trees and shrubs.
We have a dedicated Forest School team who organise and implement a Forest School curriculum for all the children. We have also been happy for our local feeder nurseries to visit this area so that those children can benefit from this provision.
In recent years the children have enjoyed building dens, made bug houses, pond dipped, built fires, cooked a stone age meal and been on a bear hunt! They have also experienced the seasons at first hand and been brave enough to use the compost toilet.
In Key Stage 2 the children work towards earning the "John Muir Conservation Award".
