Design and Technology
Design and Technology is an inspiring and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems. We aim to provide a variety of contexts in which children are led to consider their own and others’ needs, wants and values.
At Cheriton Primary School, children are taught to select and use appropriate tools safely and effectively during lessons. In all areas of Design and Technology, the children are encouraged to consider the effectiveness of their designs and requirements of the product. Every child will have the opportunity to learn and extend their understanding and experience in as wide a variety of situations as possible.
The majority of Design and Technology skills are delivered through the school’s cross curricular topic lessons. Each project should include the process of researching, designing, making and evaluating products.
Design and Technology encourages creative thinking, problem solving, imagination, perseverance and risk management across the curriculum. At Cheriton Primary School we aim to foster enjoyment, satisfaction and a sense of purpose in the skill designing and making.
